The Easy Way - Via M-66/194 from the South

Business Spur 194 of M-66, or "The Penetrator" as the locals call it, is an express artery into downtown Battle Creek from the commercial mall area and I-94.  The Easy Way is not necessarily the best way for frequent visitors to travel, nonetheless, it is the route easiest for most visitors.  It can be appropriate for all travelers except those coming from the northwest, and involves a difficult spot for long trailer haulers.  It also happens to be the route used by visitors who stay in Battle Creek for multi-day events as they travel from their hotels to the farm.  The remaining routes are the more direct routes used by Knollwood Farm staff.

  1. Begin by traveling North on M-66 from South of Battle Creek.
M-66 approaches Battle Creek through the Minges Creek area and the commercial strip surrounding Battle Creek's Lakeview Square Mall.  The crossroads here is Beckley, the road that several of the area's hotels are situated upon.  The bridge over I-94 is just half a mile beyond.
  2. Arrive in downtown Battle Creek approximately 3.3 miles from I-94.
The M-66 Business Spur (194) lowers into downtown Battle Creek and becomes a city road.
  3. Turn Left onto Van Buren St.
There are four lights in downtown before the turn.  Keep left prior to the turn.
  4. Immediately make the next Right onto Capital Ave.
Capital Avenue curves into North Ave, and it is this turn curve that can be difficult with a long hauling trailer.
  5. Continue on North Ave. for 4.5 miles.
North Avenue wends its way north out of Battle Creek.  St. Mary's Lake is on the left shortly before the next turn.
  6. Turn Left onto Halbert Rd.
The turn is at the bottom of the hill after the lake.
  7. Arrive at Knollwood Farm about 1.1 miles from North Ave.
The driveway is atop a hill on the right.
